It Only
Took 90 Days! --- Review
The “Bible in 90 Days” class that was started in
September has now been completed! Over
30 people took advantage of the opportunity to read the Bible from cover to
cover----Genesis to Revelations---completing 12 pages a day. The following are some thoughts some
participants shared at their last celebratory session:
·
“It was very rewarding to go to class each week
to share and learn someone else’s views on what we had read that week.”
·
“
·
“What a truly wonderful and uplifting
experience! Completing this in the 90
days really helps to tie the Testaments together in a way that was very
enlightening and in the group setting it was fun”
·
“I did it!
I read the Bible in 90 days. (OK…it took me 92 days) Reading this way made it read like an
adventure, a love story (for God so loved the world that he gave his one and
only son), an autobiography (God’s book)”
·
“I’m not much for finding time to read, but was
able to listen to the text during the week on my smart phone. When I could, I would read along with the
recording and was able to get through
the 12 pages/day each week as assigned.
Each week during the discussion it was always interesting to hear what
the others had received from their reading.
They would bring out points that I had missed. As I read, I tried to allow the Holy Spirit
to work through the tough parts and brings its’ meaning out.”
·
“It has heightened awareness and a deeper
appreciation for husband, family, church family and friends. It has also renewed my commitment to the
Lord”.
·
“It required a daily commitment, which is
sometimes a challenge….but it made me rethink my priorities if I wasn’t able to
commit 1 hour a day to reading the Bible.”
·
“The experience of reading the entire Bible was
a real mental awakening.”
·
“I really like the way it made me feel…it was
putting God first every day and it was a reminder on how little I do that”.
·
“I would encourage others to take opportunities
like this to strengthen their faith and relationships.”
·
“This is the beginning of establishing a
relationship with God that will be the basis of our faith. It’s a relationship God wants with us as we
read in Genesis.”
·
“I’ve always wanted to read the Bible and this
definitely was a stepping stone for me.”
A huge
thanks to Joyce Evans and Karen Fitzsimons for facilitating the classes! They put in a lot of time & energy
preparing for class each week. They were
enthusiastic and gave folks a “you can do it” attitude! They were dedicated to the task of sharing
their leadership talents with the participants.
Because of the amount of positive feedback received from
this class offering, the Adult Education Committee has determined that the
class will be offered again sometime in the future. Watch for information coming out in 2012
regarding this and many other adult education
opportunities!
