Worship/Music Committee

Meeting Notes

Tues, Mar. 6, 2012

In attendance:  S. Ensrude/G. Schill/C. Wick/S. Anderson/L. Willie/D. Peterson/ Pr Steve

Devotions:  Led by Chris.  “Each of us comes with a special gift”  Chris will do the April meeting devotions but would prefer someone else volunteering.

Icons:  We checked out the 2 icons that were chosen by Karen Fitzsimons and purchased with W/M money.  They are on the altar in the chapel.

Radio broadcast:  Seems to have better quality than in past.  The sensitivity has been increased by Lifeline at Pr Steve’s request.  Length of service time that broadcast is on was discussed---most thought 45 min. was adequate.   The new proposed opening/closing for the broadcast will be forwarded to the Evangelism Committee for their consideration/action.  Chris will forward to Curt Anderson.

New committee member:  Joyce Kallevang was approved at Council as a new member for our committee.

Conceal & Carry Signs:  Discussed but no definite concensus.  Chris will vote her conscious at Council.

Epiphany Plants:  Thanks to Monica for sharing her green plants in the chancel area during epiphany.

Foundation Grants:  Talked about possibly looking into applying for a Grace Foundation grant to fund screens & projection system for sanctuary.  Pr. Steve will get a quote from Lifeline to see what range the cost is in.

Taize services: Will probably be held every other month or maybe once/quarter.  Karen Fitzsimons is currently organizing them.  Chris will ask Karen about plans.  Discussed free will offering basket at the door.

Brass:  Mary Jacobson will round up folks to polish brass and recruit if needed.  Will do after Good Friday service.

Palm Sunday:  Eco palms ordered.  Sharon will ask some relatively new members if they would hand them out.  Chris will check on whether those little cards  will again come with the order or whether a bulletin insert is included.  Sunday school kids will sing.  Sharon will organize for 2 lines of communion that day and find 3 additional servers.

Good Friday:  Julie Jewell & Roseanne Rossing will sing a duet during offering.  Chris will double check who the ladies are that remove stuff from the altar.

Easter flowers:  Will be delivered on Sat. morning of April 7.  Monica will set them up.  She is aware that Gary Bay offered netting to use as an enhancement.  Chris hasn’t gotten huge response from her request for folks to deliver flowers after Easter.  Sue Moen made cards to go with deliveries.

Flower crosses:  Will again have 1 in sanctuary and 2 outside.  Sue Ensrude is coordinating.  Amount of flowers ordered will be cut back drastically (cost comes from Evangelism budget).  People are urged to buy them from the Confirmation (?) flower sale on Palm Sunday and bring back a week later.  Sue will continue to publicize this.

Cut glass baptism pitcher:  Still missing…big mystery.  Pr Steve might have a lead on one being donated.

Kids coloring packs:  Gail Reddell had been replenishing these; Chris will talk to her.

Trumpets:  Leta is recruiting trumpet players.  Sue E had asked Larry Owen to play and he agreed.  Only done at 6:30 and 8 AM service unless more volunteers found.

Affirmation of baptism:  Set for May 27; usual date changed because of graduation date at school.

Next meeting:  Tues, Apr. 3 @ 6:30 PM  (contact Chris to do devotion)
